Une question de Generationals

Bien longtemps qu’un album pop (par des américains en plus) sorti en catimini ne m’avait fait un tel effet. Rien de renversant, ni de révolutionnaire chez ce duo originaire de la Nouvelle Orleans, en revanche ils affichent sans complexe et manient à merveille des influences soul sixties et pop 80′s britanniques. J’ai déjà posté ici un des titres phares de l’album Con Law de Generationals et si je m’écoutais je les posterais presque tous excepté l’irritant Wildlife Sculpture (vraiment trop Weezer à la con). Histoire de vous convaincre un peu plus, voici l’épatante Faces In The Dark, une chanson de matelot comme on les aime (parfois) à chanter au bar du Pop In une grosse pinte à la main.

It’s been a long time since a pop album (moreover from Americans), which came out discreetly, hasn’t made such an impression on me! Nothing to knock you down, neither revolutionary, in this duet from New Orleans, but on another hand, they present with no shame and handle perfectly some sixties soul and British 80’s pop influences.  I’ve already posted here one of the master title of the Con Law album from Generationals, and if I was listening to myself, I would post each one of them – except for the irritating “Wildlife Structure” (way too stupidly Weezerish for me). In order to convince you a little more, here is the marvellous “Faces in the Dark”, a sailor song as we like (sometimes) to sing at the Pop In bar, holding a pint.
